Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 has awarded 14 educational bursaries totaling $14,000 to qualified students, supporting their post-secondary education goals.
The bursaries are funded through proceeds from the Legion’s annual Poppy Campaign, which raises money to support veterans, their families, and community programs.
The presentation included Tom Friesen, Youth Education and Bursary Chairman; Jim McGhie, Legion President; and Gerry Ciurysek, Legion Poppy Chairman, alongside the 14 recipients.
“These bursaries reflect the Legion’s ongoing commitment to youth and education, while also honouring the legacy of our veterans,” said Friesen.
The recipients were congratulated for their achievements and dedication, with the Legion encouraging continued support for the Poppy Campaign to ensure future funding for community programs and educational initiatives.
